Dear colleagues, we invite you to participate in the 5th International Psychoanalytic Conference with multidisciplinary participation, “Anxiety: Between the Alien and the Other,” which will take place in Kyiv both in person and online via Zoom on March 22–23, 2025.
When war, crises, and the world are changing at breakneck speed, and the subject tries to find their place in this chaotic and unpredictable process, our goal is to make sense of anxiety, which becomes particularly acute in times of trial.
There are many possible ways to approach reflections on anxiety. Practical experience is the source of theory. Therefore, we are organizing a conference aimed at a joint professional discussion of this important topic. Renowned psychoanalysts, psychologists, philosophers, and sociologists have been invited to present papers so that we may reflect together on how the war has influenced the process of the subject’s transformation in light of social, economic, and political changes; what theoretical and practical approaches to trauma work we have developed over three years of full-scale invasion; how the tension between the Other and the Stranger contributes to the subject’s identity and capacity to, while acknowledging the Other, still insist on one’s own desires, and so on.
Join this important and timely conference, as the following speakers have already joined: S. Benvenuto (leading researcher at the Rome Institute of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies at the National Research Council (CNR) and the European Institute of Higher Education in Psychoanalysis, Italy); R.
