Project description:

ART THERAPY FOR ATO/OOS VETERANS AND FORMER “DNR/LNR” PRISONERS

“MITETS. REHABILITATION SPACE” is an innovative program of art-psychotherapeutic rehabilitation for ATO/OOS veterans and former “DPR/LPR” prisoners. Teams from two non-governmental organizations—“MITEC” and the “Lviv Psychoanalytic Institute of Mental Health”—are working to bring this program to life.

Over the course of 9 months (from December 2020 to August 2021), program participants will take part in 8 master classes in various art forms: graphic art, painting, photography, ceramics, collage, land art, sound art, and performance dance. The workshops will be led by leading Ukrainian artists: Oleksii Apollonov, Olena Prydualova, Valerii Miloserdov, Serhii Yakunin, Oleksandr Milovzorov, Kateryna Svirgunenko, Olena Mamai, Bohdan Moroz, and others. The creative works produced by project participants during the workshops will be exhibited in the “MITETS” online gallery. The project will culminate in the creation of an art book.

Professional psychotherapists and psychoanalysts will work with the program participants during the workshops. Professional artists—Serhiy Zakharov (a former “DPR” prisoner) and Dmytro Kolomoytsev (an ATO veteran)—will share their personal experiences of overcoming stressful situations. Their artistic diaries will document the overall art therapy process and will be presented at a joint exhibition of the artists at the end of the project.
